During this period, congregations gained greater appreciation of the simple fellowship created through singing the psalms with traditional tunes as well as newer ones; Launceston church even produced a cassette tape which became widely recognized throughout Australia.
In the late 1970s, Cairns in tropical north Queensland was home to a preaching station where several families formed an informal congregation.

Mission Statement
Evangelical Christians are Christians who hold that the Bible is God’s inspired word and the ultimate authority for matters of faith and life. Evangelicals can be found across various Protestant denominations and across global contexts.
In 1910 thirteen perches of land in Boundary Street was acquired with the intention of building a gospel hall known as Brisbane Evangelical Church – later to become Boundary Street Independent Evangelical Church or BISEC).
Our church is associated with FIEC (Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches), an Australian fellowship comprising over 30 churches that supports its ministers, assists them with connecting with others and sharing ministry resources. A cooperative governance model exists whereby local congregations operate autonomously while remaining interdependent; an annual central leadership council provides spiritually led strategic direction with full elder representation from each congregation represented on its council. Furthermore, this church also belongs to Australian Free Churches.
Worship Service Schedule
Brisbane Christian Fellowship is a church community with an emphasis on God’s word, sincere worship, and long-term fellowship. Their goal is to help individuals discover their purpose by aligning themselves with His covenant purpose through sonship Gospel.
The church is well known for its contemporary worship music. There are various albums available to listen to or purchase online or physically; and worship groups that meet throughout the week such as Hillsong Kids for children and midweek Gospel Communities.
Samford Lutheran Church can be found north of Brisbane in Samford. Services held each Sunday include bible teaching, meaningful worship and an inviting community environment. People are welcome to stay after services for fellowship time – making this church an excellent way to make new friends and deepen your faith! This church also places strong emphasis on multiethnic ministries; recently receiving funding from Lutheran Church of Australia New Zealand’s Local Mission Fund in support of this work.
Church Facilities
Our church owns property in South Brisbane that features three street frontages – Stanley Street is one of these roads leading up to Gabba stadium (home of Australia’s cricket and AFL teams) as well as commercially leased buildings that generate additional income for ministry and mission work.
An organized church facility creates an inviting and stimulating space for guests and members, as well as supporting activities ranging from educational classes to charitable endeavors. Proper facility management enables churches to allocate their resources efficiently and effectively.
Bernard explained that plans for the village arose from specific needs identified by his church within its community. One such need he highlighted was for a working woman in need of childcare who couldn’t afford it; with no one else around to provide this care or support, church provided care and helped her avoid charges of child endangerment – creating a model which may soon be replicated through other programs.

BEC is led by Rev Ian Dickie, who previously served Hopeman Baptist Church in Morayshire and Granton Baptist Church in Edinburgh for 23 years. Both he and Alison, raised in Edinburgh respectively, have family in Scotland.
