Whether you’re a die-hard UFC fan or just love MMA in general, there are several events in Brisbane you should attend. The UFC has been known to stage some memorable fights in the city, including the event that saw Michael Bisping and Brendan O’Reilly square off. Now, the event is set to bring Bec Rawlings and Dong Hyun Kim to the ring, as well.

Dong Hyun Kim

Until last month’s UFC 187, Dong Hyun Kim was a top welterweight contender, but was never really able to capitalize on his gaudy title shot. His one loss was to Tyrone Woodley in 2013. The Korean native is ready for a rematch, though, and is looking to improve on his performance at UFC 187.

Dong Hyun Kim is a good athlete. He has eight wins, six of which came in the UFC. He earned $50,000 for winning the fight of the night. He also has a solid judo background. He is durable and looks to come at you with everything he has.

Bec Rawlings

Despite her propensity for bouts, Brisbane UFC fighter Bec Rawlings hasn’t had a competitive fight in a little over a year. A recent hip surgery to repair a nagging injury has kept her on the sidelines for the time being.

The UFC is a little light on top tier contenders, but it hasn’t stopped Brisbane UFC fighter Bec Rawlings from putting her money where her mouth is. A return to the octagon is what it’s all about. And despite the absence of the big names, there’s plenty to like about the Brisbane UFC: Fight Night 85 card.

Bec Rawlings has a lot of catching up to do. Her opponent Seohee Ham is a two time WBO welterweight champion and a former UFC fighter herself.

Michael Bisping

‘The Count’ is a fan favorite media personality in the MMA world. With a career of 30-9-0, Bisping is the first Englishman to hold a world title in MMA. He also has a successful Hollywood film career.

Despite being the first Englishman to win a world title in MMA, Michael “The Count” Bisping was considered an outsider when he first entered the UFC. He had a 2-2 record after his first four fights. After his loss to Rashad Evans, Bisping moved down to 185 pounds. He went on to win back-to-back fights. He then lost to Luke Rockhold and Tim Kennedy.

Brendan O’Reilly

Currently residing in Texas, USA, the multi-talented Badger is not only a professional mixed martial arts enthusiast, but he’s also a farrier and owns a custom saddle company. He’s also been known to give some good advice to other Aussie fighters.

While his name may be off the beaten path, the Aussie made a name for himself in the welterweight division of the UFC. He’s had a lot of wins, but his most notable win was in the UFC’s inaugural event in Melbourne, Australia. His UFC debut was against a familiar foe, albeit a rematch. He also had the distinction of being the first fighter to win a UFC main event in over a decade.

Co-main event

MMA fans in Australia will be excited to see UFC make its second trip to the country in a few weeks. The UFC will hold a fight night in Brisbane on March 20 and will feature a pair of heavyweight contenders in the main event. The co-main event will feature two Australian fighters.

The first fight was a heavyweight war between two veterans. The winner is likely to go on to become the number one contender in the division.

After the first round, the two fighters brawled and it was unclear if either one of them would be able to defend themselves. The judges ruled the fight a draw.

Venue

Fortunately for fans of mixed martial arts, the UFC is back in Australia in 2023. If you’re in the mood for some old school MMA, head down to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and catch a game. If you’re more into live entertainment, check out the Brisbane Entertainment Centre’s nightclubs and lounges. Located at 207 George Street Brisbane, the Entertainment Centre has an array of entertainment options for those looking for a night out.

The most exciting UFC event to attend is the UFC Fight Night Brisbane event, which will take place on Friday, October 19, at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. The upcoming UFC event will feature five fights in total.
